KKR Stunned, lose to Kings XI Punjab
The Kings XI Punjab registered a much-needed victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a crucial IPL 6 encounter last night. Even though Gautam Gambhir played yet another great innings, he failed to power his team to the victory.
KKR won the toss and elected to field first. Punjab posted 157/9 in 20 overs. Mandeep Singh scored 41. David Miller made 20. It was Manpreet Gony, who helped the team to post a respectable total with his 18-ball 42 with 4 boundaries and 3 sixes. Kallis took three wickets. Sunil Narine took the first hat-trick of IPL 6. He took three wickets. Senanayake claimed two wickets.
Chasing a victory target of 158, KKR finished at 153/9 in 20 overs and lost the match by 4 runs. Gambhir scored 60, while Eoin Morgan made 47. Azhar Mahmood took three wickets. Praveen Kumar and Parvinder Awana took two wickets each. Manpreet Gony was declared ‘Man of the Match’.
