TNI Bureau: The political crisis in Karnataka took another turn with Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar’s statement that he was not asked by Governor HR Bhardwaj to prove majority. He said that he had met the Governor and claimed that he had majority.
Talking to media persons on Friday, Shettar said, “I met the Governor and invited him to address the joint session on February 4 and he has agreed. He asked me about the resignation of the MLAs. I have told him that my government has absolute majority.”

He clarified that two ministers have resigned and 13 MLAs have threatened to quit. He said that the Governor did not ask him to be ready for the trust vote, rather he was asked about the resignation of the MLAs.
The fate of Shettar was believed to be on the edge following two BS Yeddyurappa loyalists quit and 13 BJP MLAs threatened to resign from the party and join Yeddyurappa’s KJP.
The Governor had earlier in the day had summoned the Assembly and asked Shettar to prove majority on February 4 in the House. He had said that he will analyse the current situation, if he feels that the party is in minority, he would ask to prove the majority in the House.
