TNI Bureau: Green tea can be a powerful ingredient to deal with cancer, the dreadful killer disease – hopes a team of scientists after they found that an extract from the beverage could make almost half of tumors vanish in a laboratory experiment.
The findings of the experiment were published in the journal ‘Nanomedicine.’
A team of researchers at the University of Strathclyde, Scotland found through a laboratory test that 40 per cent of human skin cancer tumors disappeared using a compound, called epigallocatechin gallate, present in green tea.

Dr Christine Dufes, a senior lecturer at the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, who led the research, informed that “When we used our method, the green tea extract reduced the size of many of the tumors every day, in some cases removing them altogether.”
Earlier also green tea has been deduced to contain anti-cancer properties and its extract was experimented. But then, the earlier scientists administered the compound intravenously, which although reached to every part of the body, got diluted till it reached the tumors.
But this time the researchers developed and applied a new theory/method called “targeted delivery system” and succeed to shrink the skin cancer tumors up to 40 percent; for which they believe that green tea extract can be used to cure skin cancer tumors.
