Etawah Gangrape victim dies in Hospital
A college girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah, who was allegedly gangraped and set on fire last week, succumbed to her injuries on Friday. She was undergoing treatment at the hospital in Saifai with over 80 per cent burns.
While police claimed that the girl was raped by a man, the victim’s family members termed it a ‘gangrape’. They alleged that she was raped by three men and set on fire.
According to the FIR lodged by the victim’s family, the girl and one of the accused Farman were in love with each other. They were planning to get married. However, he along with his associates raped her and set her on fire on July 11.
The gruesome incident took place in Desarmau village in Ekdil area of Etawah, the home district of Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav. The victim’s family alleged that police did nothing when they approached for help. The state government has ordered a magisterial probe into the incident.
The growing incidents of crimes against women showed that the law and order situation in the state under Samajwadi Party rule has completely collapsed.
