Deal Done, Mulayam to get Clean Chit?
The “Caged Parrot” CBI is all set to give a clean chit to Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav in the eight-year-old disproportionate assets case so that the Congress gets his support on the most important Food Security Bill in the Parliament.
According to the media reports, the CBI is reportedly heading for a closure, citing lack of evidences. Although the CBI should be blamed for failing to get evidences against Mulayam, the episode shows that the Congress used the CBI to put pressure on the Samajwadi Party leader for the last eight years.
The disproportionate assets case was filed against Mulayam and his son Akhilesh, who is now the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. CBI Director Ranjit Sinha will take a final decision to close the case very soon. Mulayam, who was a vocal critic of the Food Security Bill, has gone soft after a recent meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
