The Amarnath Yatra 2013 began today amid tight security with thousands of pilgrims started the tough journey from both Pahalgam and Baltal routes. All the arrangements have been done and the armed forces were deployed to help the pilgrims during their journey.
The entire atmosphere was echoed with the chants “Bam Bam Bhole”, “Har Har Mahadev” etc… when the first batch of pilgrims started the 45-km yatra from Pahalgam route and 13-km from Baltal simultaneously in the wee hours for the 3880-metre-high cave shrine (Ice Lingam) formed in south Kashmir Himalayas.
The armed forces have set up their base camps on the two routes (Baltal and Pahalgam). The J&K government is ready to face the uncertain natural disasters if happen during the yatra to Amarnath shrine. No sign of fear or negative thoughts were shown on the pilgrims’ faces while moving towards Amarnath.
The yatra was likely to be postponed after the Nature’s fury devastated Uttarakhand where more than 10 thousand pilgrims were swept away in the flood. Thousands of pilgrims lost their lives and those who survived, are now scared of the Char Dham Yatra.
