PM Modi reviews Cyclone Hudhud Preparedness
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held an emergency meeting to review the preparedness for Cyclone Hudhud that would hit the Visakhapatnam coast tomorrow noon. The PM has assured all support to Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
Narendra Modi asked Home Minister Rajnath Singh to be in touch with the Chief Ministers of affected states. The meeting chaired by the PM, was attended by Cabinet Secretary, the Principal Secretary to the PM, the Home Secretary, the Defence Secretary and other senior officials from the Indian Meteorological Department and and the PMO.
The Prime Minister also talked to Union Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and asked him to keep a tab on all activities. Mr. Pradhan is stationed in Odisha to take stock of the situation and step in if needed. “Hon’ble Prime Minister inquired about the state of preparedness in Odisha to deal with Cyclone Hudhud. He assured me of all possible help to the people and Government of Odisha to face this challenge”, Mr Pradhan said.
According to Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, PM Modi expressed confidence that the spirit and endeavour of people of Odisha will triumph over any natural calamity. The Cyclone Hudhud is set to cause widespread damage off the Andhra Pradesh coast, while triggering heavy rains in some South Odisha districts.
