Congress, JMM to fight LS Polls Together

As part of the deal reached between the Congress Party and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Hemant Soren will be sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand with the support of the Congress. In return, JMM will leave 10 seats to the Congress in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, while it will contest in just 4 seats.

In addition, the Congress and JMM will fight the polls together in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and West Bengal. Since JMM has significant presence in these states apart from Jharkhand, the Congress is hopeful of increasing its own tally and add JMM to the UPA fold as a major gainer.

It would be interesting to see whether Lalu Prasad Yadav’s RJD will join hands with the Congress-JMM combine in Bihar and Jharkhand or not.
