Sensex drops 208 points, Metal and Realty stocks Top Losers
TNI Bureau: The BSE Sensex dropped 208.22 points (1.21 per cent) at 16,950.22 on Monday trading. The metal, reality and capital good were the top losers today.
The NSE Nifty was also down today. It was trading at 5,137.45, down 67.65 points (1.3 per cent).
While the metal stocks were down 2.61 per cent, realty stocks 2.22 per cent and capital goods stocks 2.11 per cent, the Dr. Reddy’s Labs (0.83 per cent), Tata Power (0.2 per cent) and TCS (0.11 per cent) were the top gainers today till 12:35 pm.
Maruti, whose Manesar plant was closed following the violence, down 5.9 per cent followed by Sterlite Industries (3.71 per cent), Hindalco (3.4 per cent), BHEL (3.39 per cent) and Tata Steel (2.98 per cent).
The BSE Sensex had opened at 17,047, down 110 points (0.6 per cent) from its previous close. The NSE opened at 5,163, down 42 points (0.8 per cent) today.
The Indian market witnessed a series of decline in past few weeks. The Asian market also fell over 1 per cent on Monday after the Chinese Central Bank warned of the slow economy.
