Relief Loot: BJP demands Action against Guilty
Bhubaneswar (BJP Press Release): The suspension of Cuttack BJD District President Madhusudan Sahu is only a tip of the Iceberg as the relief loot is rampant in the State in all the affected areas. Relief loot is the worst form of inhuman act in which this Government is involved.
The lofty claims of ruling Naveen Government are now in the public domain as the suspension not only proved that BJD is involved in the relief loots but also the CM is shielding the accused without invoking the ESMA against him. Even Sahu has not been arrested.
BJP has made several rounds and review of the affected areas and found the mismanagement and loot by none other than the ruling party itself, now, it has been exposed. Ironically, as the people of Cuttack are a bit more informed and being a corporation, the loot came to fore. But loot in all the remote and low laying areas is rampant, alleged Sajjan Sharma, Odisha BJP Spokesperson.
When the Union Home Secretary came to take a toll of the situation and made a formal aerial review of the damages the government sought Rs 4,242.41 crore for the damages and handed over a memorandum. But the secretary, Anil Goswami said that the memorandum would be examined before releasing assistance to the state. Both the State and the Central Government are lingering the issue without taking urgent and effective steps to save people from the unbearable pain and suffering they are going through.
If the ruling BJD is not ashamed of gulping even the relief items what will be the fate of the sanctioned money. By the time the money will reach from the corrupt Center to the State and from the State to the people through the State machineries, there would have left nothing for the people. The relief work must be taken at the highest form of service to mankind rather than taking it as a good opportunity to make bank accounts fatty.
Meanwhile, if Naveen Patnaik really feels that Sahu, CMC commissioner and deputy commissioner are guilty and for that they were suspended and transferred then why he left Cuttack Mayor and other Corporators of his party who are also involved in the loot. BJP demands removal and arrest of the Mayor and the Corporators and as he had said to invoke ESMA against persons involved in the relief loot, he must keep his word and invoke the Act against all the culprits, dared Sharma.
