Rajesh Khanna, Sharmila Tagore may get Padma Bhushan
TNI Bureau: Late legendary actor Rajesh Khanna and veteran actress Sharmila Tagore are likely to get Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian award. Usually the Padma awards are not conferred after death of the nominee, but it will be an exceptional this year in case of Rajesh Khanna.
Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore were a hit couple on screen in the ’70s. Their performance in the films like ‘Aradhana’ and ‘Amar Prem’ were outstanding. The songs of those movies are still incomparable to the lyrics of today’s era. Rajesh Khanna breathed his last on July 18 last year.
Actress Sridevi is likely to receive the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award. She has made her comeback to the industry in ‘English Vinglish’ last year.
Odisha’s eminent stone sculptor Raghunath Mohapatra is also likely to get Padma Vibhushan.
The official list of Padma honours will be announced today.
