Rajasthan Royals back with a Bang
They won the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in style under the leadership of Shane Warne. However, they fizzled out in the subsequent editions and failed to even qualify for the play offs in all four seasons from 2009 to 2012. They are now back with a bang in IPL 6.
Rajasthan Royals showed sheer determination and consistency to move ahead in the 2013 edition of the IPL 6. With 10 victories from 14 matches so far, Royals are all set to qualify for the play-offs. They beat leaders Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets last night to win all 8 matches on the home soil. Rajasthan Royals and CSK now have 20 points each and lead the points table.
In yesterday’s match, Rajasthan won the toss and elected to field first. CSK posted 141/4 in 20 overs. Vijay (55) and Mike Hussey (40) were the top scorers. Dwayne Bravo remained not out on 23. Kevon Cooper took two wickets.
In reply, Rajasthan Royals lost 3 wickets for just 19 runs on board and 4 wickets for 45. However, Shane Watson (70 off 34) and Stuart Binny (41*) took the game away from Chennai. Royals reached 144/5 in 17.1 overs and won the match by 5 wickets. Jason Holder took two wickets. Watson was declared ‘Man of the Match’.
