Rain plays Spoilsport in 4th ODI in Ranchi
The 4th ODI between India and Australia in Ranchi, has been called off due too heavy rains and wet outfield. Australia will now go to Cuttack with a 2-1 lead in the seven-match series.
Earlier, India won the toss and elected to field. From 32/3 and 71/4 at one stage, Australia recovered well to score 295/8 in 50 overs, thanks to a record-breaking partnership between George Bailey (98) and Glenn Maxwell (92), as they added 153 runs for the fifth wicket. James Faulkner (23*) and Mitchell Johnson (25) were the other contributors.
Mohammed Shami, who replaced Ishant Sharma in today’s match, impressed all by taking three wickets. Vinay Kumar and Ashwin took two wickets each. India were 27/0 in 4.1 overs when rain stopped play. Dhawan was batting on 14.
Indian fielding were below par, as they dropped at least six catches. Bailey was given a life when he had not even opened his account. He went on to score 98 and consolidated the Australian innings.
