In his final message to the people of Odisha, Bhandare said that he had tried to act as guardian of all in the state and performed his duties honestly. He will never forget Odisha people for the love and affection he received here during his tenure.

Bhandare had taken charge as Odisha Governor on August 21, 2007. His tenure was over on August 20, 2012. However, his term had been extended by seven months due to delay in appointment of a new Governor.

His successor Senayangba Chubatoshi Jamir, who was the Governor of Maharashtra and Goa and five-time Chief Minister of Nagaland, will take oath here after arriving on Tuesday.
