Mayawati woos Brahmins in Uttar Pradesh
In a desperate bid to repeat her “social engineering” formula of 2007, which helped her to grab power in Uttar Pradesh with a massive mandate, BSP supremo Mayawati is back with a strategy to woo the upper caste and Brahmins.
While releasing the list of 36 candidates for 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Mayawati accommodated 18 Brahmin candidates as part of her new strategy. Maya alleged that the Brahmins are at the receiving end during the Samajwadi Party rule in Uttar Pradesh.
Mayawati has entrusted her party’s senior leader Satish Mishra with the task of winning the trust of Brahmins and bringing them back into the BSP fold, thus making a dent in the vote bank of the BJP and Congress.
