Indian Women Archers bring Glory
The Indian Women Archers brought laurel to the country with a power-packed performance at the Archery World Cup Stage 3 in Medellin, Colombia. They defeated China in the final to secure a gold medal at the Recurve Event.
The Indian trio of Rimil Buriuly, L Bombayla Devi and Deepika Kumari defeated top seeded Chinese trio of Xu Jing, Cheng Ming and Cui Yuanyuan 201-186. It was India’s first World Cup Women’s team gold after 2011. It was Deepika Kumari, who anchored India’s golden show with four perfect 10s in windy conditions. Earlier, Indian Men’s Team won a bronze medal with a 215-210 win over hosts Colombia.
India finished fourth overall with one gold and two bronze medals. US topped the medal tally with 2 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze medals. China took the second spot with 2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze. Colombia secured the third spot with one gold and one silver.
