India win 3rd ODI, clinch Series 3-0
India regained the No. 1 spot in the ICC ODI rankings with yet another crushing victory over Sri Lanka in the 3rd ODI in Hyderabad. India have now taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match ODI series.
Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. Despite Mahela Jayawardene’s 118 and Dilshan’s 53, they managed to score just 242 in 48.2 overs. Prasanna made 29. For India, Umesh Yadav took four wickets, while Akashar Patel took three wickets.
Chasing a victory target of 243, the openers added 62 runs for the first wicket. Rahane departed at 31. Rayudu was unluck, as he was ran out on 35. Shikhar Dhawan yet again played a superb knock of 91 off 79 balls. He was wrongly adjudged out when the ball had hit the helmet. He has scored a hundred and two powerful fifties in this series.
Skipper Virat Kohli scored 53. He surpassed Vivian Richards to become the quickest ODI cricketer to score 6,000 ODI runs. India reached 245/4 in 44.1 overs to win the match by six wickets.
