England take Firm Control Kolkata Test
TNI Bureau: Unless some miracle is produced by the Indian batsmen, Kolkata Test seems to be going in England’s way. The England batsmen continued to pile up runs on Day 3 and now leading by 193 runs with four wickets in hand in the first innings.
India’s nemesis Alastair Cook fell in a bizarre way today, but not before making a massive 190. He got tremendous support from Jonathan Trott. The duo added 173 runs for the second wicket. Cook and Compton (57) had added 165 for the first wicket. These two great partnerships have changed the course of the game.
Trott scored 87. Kevin Pietersen played an aggressive knock of 54. Samit Patel too added quickfire 33. England finished Day 3 at 509/6 in reply to India’s 316. Matt Prior was batting on 40, while Swann was on 21. For India, Pragyan Ojha took three wickets.
