Dhawan hits Ton, India win 2nd ODI vs Zimbabwe
Shikhar Dhawan scored a magnificent hundred, as India defeated Zimbabwe by 58 runs in the second ODI in Harare to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. In the first ODI, India had beaten Zimbabwe by 6 wickets in the first ODI, riding high on Virat Kohli’s 15th hundred.
Earlier, Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to field first. India lost four quick wickets for just 65 runs on board. However, Shikhar Dhawan (116) and Dinesh Karthik (69) held the fort and added 167 runs for the fifth wicket. India posted 294/8 in 50 oves. Vinay Kumar remained unbeaten on 27. Vitori took two wickets.
Chasing a victory target of 295, Zimabwe slumped to 133/6 at one stage. But, some good batting from Sibanda (55), Chigumbura (46) and Utseya (52*) helped them reach 236/9 in 50 overs. They lost the match by 58 runs, but showed fighting spirit. Masakadza contributed 34. For India, Unadkat took four wickets, while Amit Mishra took two wickets. Shikhar Dhawan was declared ‘Man of the Match’.
