David Warner dropped for assaulting Joe Root
The Australian cricket plunged into a deep crisis after its star opener David Warner was dropped from the team for a physical assault on England cricketer Joe Root. The incident reportedly occurred at a Birmingham bar after the match between England and Australia, which the latter lost by 48 runs.
The attack was completely unprovoked. Warner has already apologised for the assault and Joe Root has accepted his apology too. However, Warner was still punished and got the boot for today’s Champions Trophy match against New Zealand.
Warner was found guilty of breaching Rule 6 of the Cricket Australia Code Behaviour relating to “unbecoming behaviour”. He was recently fined 5,750 Australian dollars for breaching CA’s code of behaviour following his Twitter remarks against a couple of journalists.
