Bombay HC strikes down BCCI Probe Panel
In a major blow to BCCI President N Srinivasan, the Bombay High Court struck down the probe panel appointed by the Board into the spot-fixing allegations and termed it “illegal and unconstitutional”.
The HC observed that the BCCI acted in haste and twisted the rules to get a favourable verdict. The probe panel had submitted its report to the BCCI yesterday in which CSK owner Gurunath Meiyappan and Rajasthan Royals owner Raj Kundra were given a clean chit in the report.
Srinivasan was banking on this report to make a comeback as the BCCI chief, the post he had temporarily relinquished as part of his “eyewash” strategy. However, the court asked the Board to appoint a new panel to look into all spot-fixing and betting allegations.
