BCCI imposes Life Ban on Sreesanth
The BCCI has banned cricketer S Sreesanth for life after Ravi Sawani probe commision found him guilty of match-fixing. Ravi’s judgement was based on his analysis of evidence provided by Delhi Police and questioning of other tainted cricketers. Ankeet Chavan was also served the life ban. Other cricketers Amit Singh and Siddharth Trivedi were banned for five years and one year respectively.
According to probe report, Sreesanth was closely associated with Jiju Janardhan, a notorious bookie and got involved in spot-fixing and match-fixing in the last few years. They first met at MRF Pace Foundation in 2003.
Sreesanth, who made his Test debut on March 1, 2006, has played 27 matches and took 87 wickets with the best bowling figure of 5/40 in an innings. He also played 53 ODIs to take 75 wickets with career best of 6/55.
