Duti Chand struggles to bring Nano from UP
Bhubaneswar: While Athletics in India is yet to be popular among mass, it is the negligence of organising committee and management that are discouraging the sports persons to show their talents at national and international level. Odia girl Duti Chand revealed her story that how she was not able to bring Nano car, which was conferred to her as Prize by Uttar Pradesh government after winning three gold medals at the 58th national school championship.
After finding a place in the list of top 10 athletes in the different categories of the championship, Duti was honoured with Nano by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. However, her problem started after her manager, coach and +2 council officials did not help her to bring the car from UP to Odisha.
The officials disappeared after giving assurance to her that they will help her to bring her prize. When Duti contacted UP government, the organiser and the car dealer, she was given a negative response. She was told that it was her responsibility to transport the car from UP to Odisha.
However, Duti revealed her helplessness to bring the car as she was not able to bear the expense of Rs 50,000 as transport charge. Being disappointed from everyone, she appealed to the state government explaining her problems.
Duti is a shining star in running. It is noted that Odisha bagged 4 gold and 2 bronze at the 58th national school championship in UP. Duti became the fastest runner winning three gold medals in 100, 400 and 200mt race in the category of women less than 19 years old.
The recent revelation showed how the athletes are deprived to get support from the management, authorities and officials even after making the state and country proud with victory.
