Kohli and Dhoni added 198 runs for the fifth wicket to deny England a ticket to go for the kill. The partnership was very significant, as India had lost its top four for just 71 runs on board. Kohli scored his third test century and was out for 103. Dhoni lost the cook in pursuit of his hundred in the dying moments of the day and was run out for 99.
Jadeja and Piyush Chawla too did not last long. India finished at 297/8 in reply to England’s 330 in the first innings. Anderson was the pick of the bowlers. He took four wickets. Graeme Swann took three wickets.
