TNI Bureau: ‘Khiladi 786’ doesn’t seem to be a film by the Khiladi of Bollywood, Akshya Kumar. Akki might have given films like Rowdy Rathore, OMG or Housefull 2, but this film falls unfortunately in the category of ‘Joker’, his another film, released this year. And coming to Himesh Reshamiyaah, it is still unknown why he wants to contribute for some other departments of the film, when he only knows music and singing.
You just can’t fly a helicopter because you own it. You need a professionally trained Pilot to fly it. Himesh Reshamiyaah has produced the film and perhaps for the same reason he wanted to play with the film, left and right. He wrote the story, penned some of the lyrics, acted himself, composed the music and provided voice in the songs. No problem. He is a multi-talented guy.
But unfortunately, besides the music, he is not at all good at any of the other tasks in the film and that is the most disgusting truth about ‘Khiladi 786’. But three of the songs are rocking and have already become popular with the masses.
The film’s title provides a bit pre-release publicity to the film for adding the tag ‘Khiladi’ to it. Akshya Kumar is epithet as the Khiladi of Bollywood and this is his 8th stint as khiladi. But perhaps this is the worst episode of the Khiladi image.
The story – Manshukh Desai (Himesh Reshammiya) is a wedding planner and an assistant to his father’s business. Due to his incompetency, he cannot operate a wedding well and good and hence is kicked out of his home thanks to a blunder committed once in case of a marriage. He then comes across with Indu Tendulkar (Asin), the girl who nobody wants to enter wedlock with as she is the sister of a Don named Tantiya Tukaram Tendulkar @ TT (Mithun Chakraborty). Now Akshya kumar appears in the scene. He is Bahattar Singh or 72 Singh, a cop who has written the number 786 on his right palm with a ball pen and can take care of hundreds of goons at a time.

Mansukh decides to get Indu and Bahattar hitched and looks upon it as the wedding that would prove him as a man in front of his father. There is also a boy friend of Indu. Rest of the story does not need to be discussed as that will not add any interesting things.
Besides Akki, Aasin, Himesh and Mithun the film also stars Raj Babbar, Mukesh Rishi, Johny Lever and Sanjai Mishra. Some people say it is better to watch Doremon on TV, to waste time watching this ‘Khiladi 786’ in the theatre, though I feel director Ashis R. Mohan has tried his best.
Numbers like ‘Hookah Bar’, ‘Fire Brigade’ and ‘Lonely’ by Honey Singh are catchy and will definitely do a good job of staying on the music charts for some time.
In nutshell, the film is worth-watching if someone is really a hardcore Akshya Kumar fan. We have 3 half stars for the three hit songs of the film and another half for the presence of Akki from ‘The News Insight’.
