Petrol Prices hiked by Rs 2 Per Litre
While the BJP-led NDA, which was expected to provide a great alternative to the Congress Party at the Centre, is on the verge of a major split, thanks to JD(U)’s adamant stance on Narendra Modi’s elevation, the oil companies have hiked the petrol prices by Rs 2 per litre.
The hike of Rs 2 per litre is without VAT. If we include the VAT, the prices will be more, giving a big jolt to the common people. The hike, which will take effect from midnight today, has been attributed to the rise in global oil prices and the decline of Indian Rupee against the US Dollar.
Petrol price was last hiked by 75 paisa per litre and diesel by 50 paisa a litre on May 31. Opposition BJP, Left, Trinamool Congress and other parties have slammed the government for this unprecedented hike in petrol prices.
The Congress Party has clarified that since the petrol prices have been de-regulated long ago, it does not have any control over the fluctuation of its prices.
