‘Veggie Kart’ and ‘Veggie Wheel’ get Thumbs Up
Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik has come up with yet another populist scheme, called ‘VeggieKart’, which has received appreciation and praise from the people, who can get the vegetables at just one lick of the computer mouse. The VeggieKart scheme is a unique concept floated by the Odisha State Agriculture department in association with the VeggieKart Marketing Pvt Limited, an initiative by eKutir Rural Management Services Pvt Limited and MGM Agri-ventures.
The CM launched the web portal at http://veggiekart.co.in , which has become the vegetable distribution and online purchase platform. It asks the customers to register with their personal details and shipping address. The site accepts orders of minimum Rs 250 and maximum Rs 2,000. The consumers will have to pay Rs 25 towards the shipping and handling charges. It does not accept payments online and has a cash on delivery system in place.
The new initiative will have Veggie Kart, Veggie Wheel, Veggie Mart and Veggie Lite, which will move around the city to cater to the needs of the common people. While Veggie Kart is the online vegetable purchasing platform, the Veggie Wheel will distribute the vegetables on the streets. Veggie Mart will be the brand given to the unorganised sectors, while Veggie Lite will be the kiosks, which will sell the vegetable produces in both rural and urban areas.
Initially, 15 Veggie Wheel mobile cycles were rolled out in Bhubaneswar. The number will go up to 150 subsequently. It will also be expanded to six other districts.
