Stormy Start to Winter Session of Odisha Assembly
The much-awaited winter session of the Odisha Assembly began today. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik led the proceedings by paying tribute to late Congress leaders Purushottam Nayak, Laxman Mallick, Mohan Nag and Brahmananda Biswal who passed away recently. Leader of Opposition Shri Narasingha Mishra and BJP leader Basant Panda too paid tributes to the departed souls.
The House was adjourned till 12:15 PM by Assembly Speaker Niranjan Pujari. Then, it was again adjourned till 3 PM. The Congress and BJP seek to put the BJD in a fix by raising the chit fund scam, land scam, discretionary quota issue and bribe to journalists.
The Opposition parties are trying to put the blame on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and seeking his resignation in chit fund scam. The Congress and BJP MLAs showed placards and shouted slogans against ruling BJD Government and CM Naveen Patnaik. Congress MLAs even stormed into the well of the House.
