PM Modi launches Shramev Jayate scheme
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched a series of schemes including Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Shramev Jayate scheme to create a conducive environment for industrial development, ensuring transparency in the labour sector and facilitating the ‘Make in India’ call.
Under Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Shramev Jayate scheme, labourers will get Unique Labour Identification number (LIN) to facilitate their online registration. The scheme is aimed at ending inspector raj and streamlining labour laws. It is estimated that four crore labourers will be benefited under the scheme.
Mr Modi has also dedicated a unified labour portal – Shram Suvidha and launch Universal Account Number for Employees Provident Fund besides the Apprentices Protsahan Yojana which will support one lakh apprentices.
“The power that Satyamev Jayate (truth triumphs) has, the same power Shramev Jayate (labour triumphs) has for the development of our nation,” Mr Modi said in his address, emphasising that the people must change their mindset on those who do manual labour, to ensure progress.
The prime Minister also unveiled a labour inspection scheme to facilitate ease of compliance by four central government organizations. These are Employees’ State Insurance Corporation and Employees’ Provident Fund Organization, Director General of Mine Safety and Central Labour Commissioner.
