1) In a shocking development, authorities of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and General Administration (GA) conducted a joint operation to demolish the houses on the plots allotted under the Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY). It was done to clear a three-acre government land in Gadakana Mouza to facilitate the construction work for a multi-speciality hospital, planned by the BMC.
2) The Additional District Judge Court in Koraput has convicted hardcore Maoist Chenda Bhusanam alias Ghasi for keeping illegal arms and attacking policemen on duty. He was arrested in April 2011. The quantum of punishment will be announced tomorrow.
3) The Central Empowered Committee (CEC) on mining assessed the mining activities in Odisha and grilled the government officials who are accused of allowing the miners to operate without getting statutory clearances.
4) Monsoon will arrive in Odisha on June 16, according the Met sources. The pre-monsoon showers will hit the state on June 12.
