Naroda Patiya Verdict stalls Modi’s “Delhi March”
TNI Bureau: In a time when Narendra Modi ‘s supporters are planning for his coronation in Delhi after the 2014 general elections, the Naroda Patiya verdict has changed the equations to a great extent.
Again, the consequence of this verdict may reflect in the upcoming Assembly Poll of Gujarat that is supposed to take place in December 2012.
More clearly, the conviction of three-time BJP MLA and former minister Maya Kodnani in the Naroda Patiya massacre of 2002 has delivered a stern blow to the Narendra Modi government and the state unit of the BJP.
Some of the BJP allies such as JD(U), Shiv Sena and non-Congress parties like the TDP, Trinamool Congress etc. will never want to support a government with Modi at the helm. The ghost of 2002 Gujarat riots will continue to haunt Modi in the years to come. He may win in Gujarat for the fourth time in a row, for him, but Delhi will still remains a distant dream for him.
