Indic Wikimedia Hackathon 2024 concludes successfully in Bhubaneswar

TNI Bureau: The vibrant city of Bhubaneswar hosted the Indic Wikimedia Hackathon 2024, a three-day national-level event held from December 20 to 22. Organized by the Indic Wikimedia Developers User Group and the Odia Wikimedia User Group, the hackathon brought together more than 50 participants from across India, all united by their passion for open-source technology and linguistic diversity.

Participants collaborated on creating tools, developing scripts, and fixing technical issues to enhance the Wikimedia Foundation’s platforms. Contributions focused on supporting Indian-language Wikipedias and promoting inclusivity in the digital space.

“This hackathon is a celebration of technology and culture, combining efforts to preserve linguistic diversity with innovations that benefit millions of Wikimedia users,” said a representative of the Indic Wikimedia Developers User Group.

The Indic Wikimedia Hackathon 2024 not only demonstrated the strength of India’s open-source community but also highlighted the potential of technology in bridging cultural and digital divides.
