‘ICGS Vajra’ docks at Paradip Port
The coastal security off Odisha has been strengthened further, as the ICGS Vajra Coast Guard ship has been deployed at the Paradip Port. The ship will monitor the coastal activities along with Odisha and West Bengal. The ship also has a helicopter landing pad for emergency situation.
The ICGS Vajra will be guarded by a Commanding Officer and 34 jawans round-the-clock. It contains 300 mm guns and other sophisticated arms and ammunition. Apart from coastal security, the ship can also be used in relief work during the natural disasters.
The deployment of ICGS Vajra off the Odisha Coast, is a welcome step, as the state always looked up to Vishakhapatnam or Chennai during the rescue operations.
