Gujarati Film ‘The Good Road’ nominated for Oscars
Critically-acclaimed movies such as ‘The Lunchbox’ and ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ failed to make the cut, as Gujarati film ‘The Good Road’ was selected as India’s official entry at the Oscars. The movie will represent India in the ‘Best Foreign Film’ category.
There were 22 entries from across India for the Oscars. In the end, there was stiff competition between ‘The Good Road’, ‘The Lunchbox’, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, ‘English Vinglish’, ‘Vishwaroopam’ and ‘Celluloid’ (Malayalam). However, ‘The Good Road’ won the favour of the Oscar Selection Committee.
The jury had a five-hour discussion before choosing ‘The Good Road’. The national award winning movie, directed by Gyan Correa, is a story of a boy, who was lost and found in Kutch region of Gujarat.
