Former Odisha Minister Raghu Mohanty Arrested
In a major relief to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha, former Law Minister Raghunath Mohanty, was on the run for the last few days in connection with the dowry torture case filed by his daughter-in-law Barsha Soni Choudhury, was finally arrested in Kolkata.
The HRPC (Human Rights Protection Cell) team along with the Crime Branch sleuths were stationed in Kolkata for the last four days to apprehend Raghu Mohanty, who was giving a slip to the cops. He and his wife Pritilata Mohanty were arrested by the HRPC team.
Earlier, Raghunath Mohanty’s son Rajashree Mohanty was arrested by the police. His bail plea was rejected twice. The BJD was in a dillema over Raghu Mohanty’s reluctance to cooperate with the law and asked him to surrender, but in vain. Raghunath Mohanty and his wife would be brought to Balasore for further investigation.
