Five Common Diseases in Kids
By Triveni Sharma: Children are predisposed to all kinds of contagions and infections. There are many diseases which are common in kids. It’s very essential for the parents to know these and take precaution to prevent them.
Children usually carry certain virus from their nose or mouth and spread them to others by sneezing or laughing. Children come into contact with many germs through sharing, playing and interacting with others. Here are the five common diseases in kids which most children develop at some stages of their childhood:
Measles
Measles, also known as rubeola, is one of the most contagious infectious diseases. It can affect people of all ages, despite being considered primarily a childhood illness. The disease can spread even if the infected child is kept in isolation. Some with measles will be infectious four days before the rash appears and five days before it goes.
Chicken Pox
Chicken Pox is one of the common diseases in kids. The children usually have a moderate fever. The disease is kept at a healthy cove with antiviral medications, and calamine lotion is used for reduction of the itching. This disease provides immunity for the rest of the life and this is the reason why children are mostly affected by it.
Mumps
Mumps is most common in children over the age of two who have not been vaccinated. It is also common in teenagers and young adults, although older people may also contract the disease. It can be a potentially serious disease for children and young adults.
Common Cold
Bringing sniffles and sneezes and perhaps a sore throat and annoying cough, the common cold infects children from time to time. The first symptom of a cold is often a tickle in the throat, a runny or stuffy nose, and sneezing. This is one of the most common disease children usually suffer from.
Whooping Cough
Children who suffer from this disease need fresh air. Typically, the signs become worse at night. The symptoms of whooping cough include long fits of coughing that are followed by wheezy breathing. Vomiting is also a probability.
