TNI Bureau: The 9th Dhauli Kalinga Mahotsav entered into the 4th day showcasing some enchanting classical and contemporary items. Organized by Dept. of Tourism, Govt. of Odisha and Odisha Dance Academy, the festival attracted a large number of visitors who enjoyed the dance till the end with a varied taste and flavour.
With the customary invokation on Peace in honour of Lord Buddha the artistes of Subhasree Sankahdhwani Kalakendra Narendrapur, Ganjam presented a spectacular blowing of conch-shell with accrobatics much to the appreciation of the audience. The deciples of Anita Guha, eminent Bharatnatyam danceuses performed the items of Bharatnatyam repertoir starting with Ganesh Bandana an offering to Lord Ganesh set to Raag Arabhi’ and Aditala on a composition of Dr. Balmuralikrishna. It was Ardhanarishwara Thandavam presented by two young girls with amazing grace and elegance which received tremendous applause from the audience. They depicted the different aspects of Lord Shiva and goddess Parvati in pure dance format with perfect synchronization of body movements and intricate footworks. The next item was Dance Ballet “Pada Kavithaa Pithamaha” of Annamacharya Sankeerthanam describing the beautiful hills of Thirumala- Seshachalam, Garudachalam, Vedachalam set to Raag Hindolam. The popular Tulasi Das Bhajana Thumak Chalat was performed by the deciples of Anita Guha depicting the childhood sequences of Baby Ram which was set to Mr. Pahadi and Thisra Adi Thalam. Their last item was Thilana on thematic presentation “Hare Ram Hare Krushna” glorifying the two incarnation of Lord Vishnu – Rama and Krishna. All the items presented by the students of Anita Guha were superb which captivated the audience throughout and kept them spellbound.

The last programme of the evening was a contemporay production “Mei Dhwani” by Attakkallari Centre for Movement Arts, Bengalur which encapsulates the primordial relationship between human beings and the universe they inhabit transcending cultural specificities. Its a magic combining the fragility of solitude, the chaos of turmoil, and the melody of movement. Directed by Attakkalari’s Artistic Director Jayachandran Palazhy and choreographed by him and the dancers, Mei Dhwani mesmerized the audience with a special feeling of Joy and ecstacy.
The Guests of the evening were the Director & Addl. Secretary, Deptt. of Culture, Odisha, Shri Susil Kumar Dash, emimnent art critic Smt. Leela Venkatraman and Director IMFA Smt. Paramita Mohapatra. The programme was compered by Shri Srinivas Ghatua and Shri Pratyasha Dash.
