Tirtol MLA Rabindranath Bhoi in False Affidavit Row
Tirtol MLA Rabindranath Bhoi has landed in trouble after it was revealed that he had given false information about his educational qualification in the nomination papers filed for the 2009 assembly elections. The first time BJD MLA blamed his colleague Bishnu Das for the false information contained in the nomination papers while admitting his mistake before media. The false affidavit row would cost him more in the coming days.
Bhoi had won the poll in 2009 by a margin of nearly 34,000 votes. His nomination paper showed that he had completed his Plus II and Plus III examinations from SVM College, Jagatsinghpur. But, it was not the fact. After matriculation, he studied AMIE (Associate members of Institution of Engineers) in Chennai, but discontinued it after one year.
He admitted his mistakes, saying he did not study Plus 2 nor did he attend graduation degree. He had joined the AMIE course in Chennai but had to discontinue it after his father died and the financial condition of his family did not allow him to continue his education. However, he held MLA Bishnu Charan Das responsible for the false affidavit. In fact, the party had selected Rajashree Mallick as its candidate from Tirtol. But her name was not in the voters’ list. Later, Bhoi was called and he filed the nomination just about half an hour before the deadline. He alleged that the papers were kept ready by Das and he just signed on the nomination form.
However, Das denied his role in the false affidavit filed by Bhoi. He admitted that he had called him to file the nominations, but he was not his PA to prepare or keep his records. The allegations would give the opposition an opportunity to attack the party in the upcoming Monsoon session.
