SC Jamir to be New Odisha Governor
Former Nagaland Chief Minister Senayangba Chubatoshi Jamir has been appointed as the Governor of Odisha. The Ministry of Home Affairs has sent a file to President Pranab Mukherjee for approval recommending his name for the post. The Rashtrapati Bhavan has issued the notification in this regard.
Jamir will replace Muralidhar Chandrakant Bhandare, whose tenure was completed in August 2012.
Senior Congress leader Jamir has also served as Governor of Maharashtra and Goa. He was the CM of Nagaland in 1980, 1982-86, 1989-90, 1993-97 and 1997-2003. He was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 1961 and was appointed as the parliamentary secretary during Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
