Bhubaneswar: If speculations will be believed, Patnagarh MLA Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo is going to be the next President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha. However, it will be confirmed after Central core committee meeting, which is scheduled to be held today in New Delhi.

The speculations about Singhdeo reported after state BJP leaders confirmed that central leadership had held a discussion giving green signal to the four-time MLA.

Singhdeo even looks more confident to get the position in the state. Earlier, he had submitted his resignation as the BJP legislator party leader last year before monsoon session indicating that he had difference with the outgoing president Jual Oram.

The post remained vacant after Jual Oram’s tenure ended as the President in December last year. The central leadership had asked the state party leaders to find a candidate, who can lead the party in the state in the forthcoming assembly polls.

However, the state leaders had failed to appoint Oram’s successor. Even several meetings had been held between the state and central leaders to resolve the issue.
