Medical Negligence in Pipili: NHRC seeks Report
The National Human Rights Commission has sought a report from District Collector, SP and CDMO of Puri in case of a medical negligence case by a private hospital. Acting on a complaint of Human Rights Activist Mr. Akhand, the apex human rights body has directed these seniors officers to submit their reports with in four weeks.
The Petitioner has alleged before the commission that due to wrong operation, one minor girl Pujarani swain(13) had died on 24 October in Baulasahi village under Pipili Police station of Puri District Odisha.
Doctors in Gopinatha Private Hospital in Sakhigopal under Puri District had operated with Pujarini on 23 June last year. From that day Pujarani’s life became miserable. Within an year she became face multiple organs failure that leads to her death.
Facing these problems following this operation the father of victim Makara swain made an F.I.R. in Satyabadi Police station. But police have not taken any step against the Private Hospital. He approached Puri District Collector and CDMO. But no one helps him, alleged Akhand.
Makara being a very poor man could not provide further treatment to her girl. After unbearable pain his daughter succumbed to her injury on 24 October . The petitioner prayed for a compensation of 10 lakhs to the victim’s family and action against the medical staff.
