MCI gives Nod to increase 100 MBBS Seats in SCB
The Medical Council of India (MCI) finally gave its nod to increase 100 MBBS seats in SCB Medical College and Hospital. With the increased seats, 250 students will take admission in the Cuttack medical college from this academic session instead of 150.
Even though, the MCI team had expressed dissatisfaction during their visit in April over the poor infrastructure and inadequate faculties in SCB, the college received the green signal for the hike in the seats after the health secretary assured the central body giving an undertaking to provide improved infrastructures, adequate examination halls, library, auditorium and teachers for the students.
The state government has sanctioned Rs 130 crore to upgrade the facilities in the medical college. The construction work of lecture theatres and auditoriums has already been started after the visit of the MCI.
