IYF World Camp 2013 inaugurated at KIIT
Dr. S. C. Jamir, His Excellency the Governor of Odisha inaugurated the 2013 IYF World Camp at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar on September 22, 2013 in the presence of Prasanna Acharya, Hon’ble Finance Minister, Govt of Odisha, Rev Kim Soo Yeon, IYF Director, India, Rev. Kim Jin Soo, General Secretary, IYF, Dr. A. Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS, Dr. Sucheta Priyabadini, Jt. Registrat, KIIT University.
The world camp is organized under the aegis of International Youth Fellowship (IYF) in different countries with an objective to inculcate comprehensive global outlook in today’s youth through culture and understanding.
Students from 10 countries, including Korea, Africa, Thailand, Vietnam, Czech Republic and France are participating in this international youth festival being held in KIIT. The camp provides a wonderful opportunity for youths to participate to gain once-in-a-lifetime experience. The purpose of the camp is to develop the potential of college students and participants from other places to become leaders of the upcoming generation through fellowship and union.
Inaugurating the world camp Dr. Jamir said, youth constitute a vital and vibrant human resource. They have the ability to shape the destiny of the country. However for this, proper channellisation of energy of this vast human resource is much important from not just a country’s point of view but that of the world, he added. Governor said, youths have a right as well as an obligation to participate actively in national as well as global development and strengthen the citadels of peace, love and good will in the country and the world as well. Shri Prasanna Acharya also motivated the youths from across the globe by giving the youth activities of Mahatma Gandhi, Swami Vivekananda, Bhagat Singh and Nelson Mandela.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS welcomed the guests and participants to KIIT campus and said that festivals like this greatly help in channelizing youth energy in a constructive direction.
The three-day camp will feature international symposiums, guest lectures, cultural performances, sports activities, classical music and orchestra. An important attraction of the inaugural day was Panel Discussion on ‘Contemporary Youth Challenges’ by eminent actors, Mr. Gulshan Grover and Mr. Kunal Kapoor. Other programmes of the first day included campus tour, mind lecture, mini Olympic running (men) and special lecture on ‘A Happy Life with Family’.
Activities and sessions such as marathon, GNC training, ‘The Voyage of The Heart’, Water Polo, Our Stories and IYF Got Talents are scheduled in the coming two days. On the concluding day, noted actor Mr. Sabyasachi Mishra will grace the NSS Day celebration. Through various activities, IYF cultivates youths to have strong hearts and be capable of overcoming whatever hardship that befalls in life. It promotes the value of ‘one world, one community’.
International Youth Fellowship (IYF) was founded with the intention of cultivating leaders of next generation who are endowed with character and mindset. It facilitates mutual cooperation through international exchange and conducts youth education to realize this cause. The ultimate vision of IYF is to realize a brighter and healthier society with the motto of ‘change, challenge and cohesion’.
