Coalgate: CBI files FIR against Naveen Jindal
In a big development today, the CBI has filed a fresh FIR against Congress MP Naveen Jindal and former Minister of State for Coal, Dasari Narayan Rao (Congress) in connection with irregularities in coal block allocations. Jindal’s Jindal Steel and Power Ltd was the largest beneficiary, as it was allotted 11 coal blocks in total.
FIRs were lodged against Jindal Steel and Power Ltd, Gagan Sponge and two other companies. Raids are being conducted at 15 places in Delhi, Hyderabad and Kolkata in this regard.
Naveen Jindal, the Lok Sabha MP from Kurukshetra in Haryana, finds himself in deep trouble with this latest development. Gagan Sponge, Jindal Realty, New Delhi Exim, and Saubhagya Media are charged with alleged cheating and misrepresentation of facts in bagging Amarkonda Murgadangal block in Birbhum district of Jharkhand in 2008.
Meanwhile, the BJP has yet again accused the government and the CBI for being hand-in-glove and trying to save the Prime Minister.
