Capital Hospital fails to impress HC Panel
The Advocate Committee, formed by the Orissa High Court, has expressed shock and surprise over the facilities and infrastructure as well as functioning of the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. The team will apprise the HC of the current situation and mess created by the hospital authorities.
The poor sanitation at the capital city’s biggest government hospital, has shocked everyone, including the lawyers and health experts. The authorities did not find time to set things in order, as it was a surprise visit by the panel.
The gynaecology department is in absolute mess, as it suffers from shortage of beds in the ward to accommodate the patients. The causality word is not different. The panel was shocked and astonished to find that the lone neurosurgeon posted in the hospital, Dr Pradip Kumar Acharya, has been transferred to Sambalpur to replace a gynaecologist.
The panel blamed the state government as well as the Capital Hospital authorities for the mess they have created. Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr. Damodar Rout boasts of improving the healthcare in the state. There is no reason why he should not be made accountable to the sorry state of affairs at the government hospitals.
