The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju presented the Certificate of Naturalization to noted singer and musician Shri Adnan Sami Khan here today. The certificate has been granted under the Citizenship Act, 1955. He had applied for the certificate of naturalisation and has satisfied the Government that the conditions laid down in the Citizenship Act, 1955 for grant of naturalisation are fulfilled in his case.

His request for citizenship was approved by the Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh yesterday.

In pursuance of the powers conferred by the Citizenship Act, upon taking the oath of allegiance within the time and in the manner required by the rules made in that behalf he shall subject to the provisions of the said Act, be entitled to all political and other rights, powers and privileges and be subject to all obligations duties and liabilities to which an Indian citizen is entitled or subject, and have to all intents and purposes the status of an Indian citizen.

Shri B.K. Prasad, Additional Secretary (Foreigners), MHA and Ms. Roya Faryabi, wife of Shri Adnan Sami Khan were also present on the occasion.
