TNI Bureau: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted search operations at premises linked to Vedanta Group as part of an investigation under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
According to reports, the searches began on June 1 following the launch of a probe into alleged foreign exchange-related violations. While the ED has not officially commented on the action, Vedanta confirmed the searches and said it is extending full cooperation to the investigating agency.
The development comes nearly a month after the mining conglomerate received approval from its secured creditors for a major demerger plan to split the company into six separate entities.
Vedanta Group, headed by industrialist Anil Agarwal, has also faced scrutiny over its electoral bond purchases and other regulatory issues. In recent months, the company has figured in controversies ranging from a fatal boiler explosion at a power plant in Chhattisgarh to a penalty imposed on Vedanta Aluminium for alleged unauthorised water extraction in Odisha.
