No Threat to Odisha from Cyclone Helen
As the Cyclone Helen is all set to cross the coast between Chennai and Andhra Pradesh tomorrow night, people in Odisha, who are yet to recover from the impact of Cyclone Phailin, had reasons to be feel disturbed. However, it is certain that there is no threat to Odisha from ‘Helen’, which will cause landfall in Andhra Pradesh.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, Cyclone ‘Helen’ would cross the south Andhra Pradesh coast near Kavali on the night of November 21. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at a few places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Some rainfall may occur at isolated places of Coastal Odisha, but there is no reason for any panic.
Gusty winds at 65-75km hour, may prevail along the coasts of Andhra Pradesh, North Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. An alert has been issued at the Gopalpur and Paradip ports of Odisha.
