Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, was given a warm welcome at the Biju Patnaik Airport in Bhubaneswar this morning. Modi waved at the crowd that gathered at the Airport to get a glimpse of him. Thousands BJP leaders and cadres and common people had been waiting for Modi’s arrival since the morning hours.
Modi started his journey to Puri with people standing on both sides of the road to greet his cavalcade. On the way, he offered garlands at the statues of Pancha Sakhas in Sakhigopal. After reaching Puri, Modi addressed the media and people who waited for us. He spoke in Odia and hailed the people of Odisha for their contribution to the growth of Gujarat.
Modi wished a lot of wealth and prosperity to the Odia people, while paying his respect to Lord Jagannath. He talked about the similarity between people of Gujarat and Odisha in many spheres. Modi received a huge applause when he chanted ‘Vande Utkal Janani’ and ‘Jai Jagannath’. “I have come from the soil of Lord Somnath to Lord Jagannath’s soil to seek his blessing”, he said.
“The salt satyagrah of Inchudi in Balasore is considered to be the next biggest after Mahatma Gandhi’s Dandi Yatra. Dwarka & Puri are related to two incarnations of Lord Vishnu, who appeared in Dwarka as Lord Krishna & as Mahaprabhu Jagannath in Puri,” tweeted Modi.
“Thanks to the skilled manpower and the traditional aesthetic sense of Odisha’s artisans who have made Surat’s textile the best in the World”, his tweet says.
After visiting the Jagannath Temple and Gundicha Temple, Narendra Modi met Puri Sankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati. He met Puri King Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb before making a return journey to Bhubaneswar.
Modi then took the flight to Nagpur, where he is scheduled to meet RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat. Modi met the party leaders in Puri, but no official meeting was scheduled, as the visit was purely non-political. In any case, Modi’s Odisha visit has energised the BJP leaders and cadres even though he is not scheduled to address any public rally.
