SC Jamir sworn-in as Governor of Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Former Nagaland Chief Minister Senayangba Chubatoshi Jamir was sworn-in as the new Governor of Odisha. Chief Justice C Nagappan on Thursday administered his oath at Raj Bhavan.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Chief Secretary BK Patnaik and other dignitaries were present during the swearing-in ceremony. The newly appointed Governor succeeded MC Bhandare, who bid adieu to Odisha on Sunday.
Jamir had arrived in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday night. However, he took over the charge today.
The 82-year-old Congress leader was the CM of Nagaland for five times. He had earlier served as Governor of Maharashtra and Goa. He had worked with late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru as parliamentary secretary. He was also in-charge of external affairs. Later, he had held portfolios – labour and rehabilitation, community development and cooperation, and food and agriculture – at the Centre.
